Understanding The Storage Industry

When I started managing a storage facility to get free rent, I was wondering how much I could possibly learn from the business. However, after working there for several months, I realized that the storage industry was not only highly lucrative, but it was also really interesting and fun. Our customers were loyal and kind, and I realized that I really wanted to understand the storage industry so that I could improve our little business. This blog is all about storage, so that you can learn what you need to in order to store successfully, or even manage your own facility someday.

4 Hacks For Making The Moving Process Faster

Moving is a part of life. If you are getting ready to gear up for your next move, make it easier by learning a few quick packing tips that will ensure that your next move is a smooth one. With the right moving hacks, packing can be a breeze.

Hack #1: Let the Movers Handle the Furniture

Some of your furniture may need a little prep before it is moved. For example, they will need to wrap up the glass mirror hanging above your dresser. Or they will need to add some padding to the corners of your dresser to ensure that it doesn't get dinged up while moving. Or they may take the table apart.

Leave the preparation of the furniture to the moving company. When you get your moving quotes, be sure to let the moving company know that you want them to prepare and protect the furniture before moving it.

Letting the movers handle this takes a big burden off your plate. Now all you need to do is empty the furniture with storage compartments of stuff before the move and wipe down the furniture so that it is clean.

Hack #2: Let the Movers Handle the Artwork

If you have ever tried to wrap up a piece of artwork, you know it can be challenging to protect the artwork without damaging it. That is why this is another task that you should outsource to your moving company. Allow professionals who wrap up artwork every day to take care of your artwork.

Once again, be sure to let the moving company know that you want them to handle this task so that it can be included in your quote.

Hack #3: Get Specialized Boxes

When you move, you should invest in specialized boxes. They may cost a little more, but they can make moving a lot easier. For example, you can get a garment box to just hang up your clothing from your closet inside the box. When you get to your new home, just open the box, and transfer the hangers right into your new wardrobe.

Or you can purchase special boxes for different types of glassware, plates, and bowls in your kitchen, making it easier to pack up these fragile items. Specialized packages can take a little of the stress out of packing.

Hack #4: Use Cloth Items for Padding

Next, use cloth items for padding instead of a bunch of packing paper and bubble wrap. There may be situations where you need to use packing paper and bubble wrap, but often, wrapping an item up in a washcloth, hand towel, or old t-shirt will do the trick.

Then, when you get to your new home, you will not have so much stuff to throw away, as all that packing paper and bubble wrap can create a lot of trash.

Don't try to take on all the packing on your own. Allow the moving company to handle some of the packing tasks. A place like John Mitchell Moving/Two Guys and a Truck can help you out. Get specialized boxes to save you time and keep your stuff safe. Use cloth items for padding to reduce waste and your packing supply budget.
